Kibbo Ghetto climate change Foundation is a non-profit organization that that started as Community based organaisation it works to improve people's social well-being mostly in the ghettos teaching these communities the impacts of climate change and environmental pollution ,involving in ecosystem restoration , helping the needy, emphasizing communities to live in a green and clean environment. Ghettos mainly since these are the most populated and vulnerable communities with an aim of mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Uganda loses approximately 2% of its forest cover annually with over 60% of its biodiversity under threat. To curb this calamity, our organization currently runs school conservation programs engaging students in conservation education,Establish Conservation Clubs in Schools. These efforts have inspired youth to become environmental stewards with practical skills to combat climate challenges.
Conduct Community Awareness Campaigns Educate communities about the consequences of deforestation and the importance of forest conservation through workshops and events. Establish Community Conservation Networks Create local networks to connect conservation clubs, community leaders, and stakeholders for joint initiatives. Host Environmental Advocacy Workshops Train youth participants on how to advocate for biodiversity conservation at local and national levels. Organize Conservation Competitions Engage schools and communies competitions focusing on tree planting, biodiversity documentation and sustainable practices, Launch Community-Led Reforestation Program Involve youth and community members in planting and maintaining indigenous trees in degraded areas. Promote Environmental Storytelling Train youth to use photography, video and writing to document and share their conservation efforts. Support Alternative Livelihood Projects Introduce and train community members in activities like beekeeping, eco-tourism, or craft-making to reduce dependence on forest exploitation.
The foundation's sectors of activity include Education, Health and Human Settlements, Forests, Agriculture and land use, Waste Management, Water Resources, policy and governance and social action.
Over the next 3-5 years, we aim to scale these programs to reach 500 additional schools,Establish Conservation Clubs in Schools engaging 1,500,000 more students, plant 3,000,000 trees and promote sustainable practices within local communities.
